My Organized Nook day ~ A Dream Vanity

I hope everyone had a nice weekend and Father's day! Here in Jersey, it was a gorgeous Sunday. Perfect weather.
Thank you to all of you who participated in the See U Now Link Party yesterday.  And if you haven't yet, add your links, it's never too late! ;)

***********

Organizing a house, a room, an area can change your life for the best.  But, making the right changes can be difficult without any plans.
Before doing anything, I like to think about what my needs are, and what I would like the new design of the space to look like.
Polyvore is an amazing tool not only for fashion, but also to create mood boards and plan home designs.

I often dream of the perfect vanity.  A beautiful table, comfortable stool and a big fancy mirror where I could spend {hours} prettifying myself!
When One Kings Lane, a company that sales top-brand, vintage and designer items at discounted prices for about 72 hours only,  contacted me to know if I wanted to participate in their Reflect Your Style campaign, I was thrilled!

They sent me six mirrors to chose from and create a gorgeous vanity design to go with it.

Here are five of the six
These are very nice mirrors. All so different one from another, each telling a story. My favorite one however is the Vevey Mirror {featured in my mood board}.
Its bold gold frame inspired me to go with a vintage and classy design.

This elegant half moon table with the limed wash finish reminds me of France.  I love this smooth semi circle shape, which is also in the mirror from One Kings Lane, and the long slim legs.
The Vevey Mirror makes this piece of furniture stand out.
I added a pop of color to my design with this purple vanity stool. Doesn't it look so comfy?!

This vanity would make me a really happy girl!!
Make sure to check out all the mirrors from One Kings Lane.  They have so many different styles, one for every taste.

What's a piece of furniture or special space you've always dreamed of for yourself?

A Brand New Office for This Girl ~ A Work In Process

So you know... as always, I just need love to rearrange my spaces.  This time, it was all about my office!  ~ Actually, it often is all about my office ;) ~
As I mentioned last week when I gave my desktop calendar a facelift, with everything happening in this office, it was beginning to get unpractical.

A Winter Blues Pick Me Up

These past weeks have been super frigid here in NJ ~and in a lot of states for that matter~ and well, we all know that long dreary days can affect our moods...  To remediate to the Winter Blues, I needed a little color pick me up in my office and some organization.

After the little facelift I gave my desktop calendar, I continued with the blues and added some gold touches.  Because lately, I've just been all about gold!  Who hasn't anyways?!  Gold is the new black.

Gold is almost everywhere in that room.  I even made gold hexagons decals for the walls ;)

A Calendar Facelift

New office

These past few days, I have been rearranging, redesigning, resetting my office.  I spend a lot of time in that room and wanted it to be more spacious.  Lately, it had become very unpractical, uninspirational, and cluttered.

I am loving the new airy layout ~photos coming up next week~, and now I am working on bringing some colors to this room!

I had this desktop dry erase calendar for a while, but as you can see, I hadn't used it since September.

What's Up with Me and LIP?

I have a lot to share with you guys, I don't even know where to start!

For a blogger with organization as the main niche, I feel like the biggest contradiction!  I'm a total living irony.  {I just had to say both words because, you know, sometimes I just don't know how to say things, and I'm not sure my point gets across...  That's the sad part of being a French girl living in the US...}
Anyways, my point is: I've been so UN-organized lately...

I have good reasons for this though, and it's all about exciting things that I am planning, starting, attending and keeping on building.

A Craft Sanctuary

It's been way too long since I have written any thing on this blog... Ahh... I feel awful.
Since the day my Husband finished his studies, we have been spending a lot of time together, traveled to a few places ~ California for vacation/celebration, France to visit my family and an RV trip from Phoenix to Denver ~, and I just haven't found the time to write.

DIY Drawers for Deep Kitchen Cabinets

Organizing Dish and Hand Towels

This is probably the quickest and easiest organizing tip of the year!

I think it is very hard to store any kind of item in a pantry, cabinet, closet or even refrigerator that has pretty deep shelves...  I always find myself forgetting about whatever is hiding in the back and/or having to move things around a lot.
I came to the conclusion that my best bet was to create pull out "drawers" whenever possible.

Dish Organizer

Seems that I am much into kitchen organization lately... :)  After a new kitchen utensils set up and an efficient way to store food containers and their lids, I wanted to share with you how I organized my dessert dishes for better access.

Dish Drainer for Dish Organizer

In a Pile

When the dishes were piled up in the cabinet, I was having a hard time using them the way I wanted because I often had to move the ones on the top to reach the ones on the bottom...  ~yes, it may sound crazy, but depending on the kind of dessert I am having I will want a specific kind of dish... It also depends on my mood!~

Home for the BBQ Necessities

Summer time of course rhymes with BBQ!

As soon as the nice days came along, we got hooked into BBQing.  After living in a condo for four years, and not being able to BBQ, we were so excited to finally be able to grill our meats, fish, vegetables, and host parties and have fancy romantic dinners out in the back yard.  And after a very necessary deck cleaning and a front yard fixing, we were so ready to enjoy the outdoors.

We quickly gathered a few items to use to BBQ ~well that Hubby uses, since he is the pro in this domain!!~ and as for everything else, I like finding a "home" where everybody in the same family stays together! ;)

Organizing Food Storage Containers and Lids

Since I do not have a lot of counter space, I work as much as possible on keeping a clear counter.  Optimizing the kitchen cabinets to the best of their storing and organizing abilities is one of my most important tasks, and the corner carousel is definitely getting there.  On the top shelf, I have my kitchen utensils organized in metal mesh letter tray, and the bottom shelf is filled with food storage containers and their lids as well as the pots and pans lids!

I used to have the containers piled into each other, on top of each other, in a cabinet, with the lids on the side, sometimes if possible staked into a larger container.
Of course, the one container I needed was the one all the way in the back most of the time, and the lids would fall all over the place, on the floor, etc.  I had enough of that mess, as you can imagine...

Storing Kitchen Utensils in a 3-Tier Letter Tray

How a metal mesh letter tray unwanted in the office becomes super handy in the kitchen...

Upright Utensils

Since I do not have many drawers nor much counter space, I store the cooking tools in a cupboard right by the stove.  I had them standing up in a basket, but this one used to fall over a lot from the weight of all the utensils and/or as it bumped into a metal hook.  It was getting frustrating.

DIY Storage Box ~ Lonely Shoe Boxes Find New Purpose

Instead of throwing out shoe boxes, you could reuse them and make pretty storage boxes out of them.
We'll always need a specific place to put special items!

All you need is a shoe box, wrapping paper and glue.

Organizing Nook

Today, I was invited to write a post on an all-about-craft blog, Kreative Creationz
In my guest post, I discuss the sorting system I created for Hubby and I.  This Organizing Nook includes a frame which serves as a dry-erase board for our to-do list and the weekly menu  ~write on the glass with a dry-erase marker and swipe it off when you need to!~, as well as 4 clipboards to organize documents.

The Organizing Nool explained
